Starting with September 2016, Netflix will stream every new Disney movie, including the ones made by their own studios, like Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.
Currently, a full list with all the Disney movies that will be available on the streaming platform isn’t available and we don’t know exactly if we’re going to see each title, but one thing is clear: an impressive amount of quality content will be added, says The Inquisitr.
Fanboys, get ready for an amazing fall!
Among the titles that will be added, we will definitely see the full Star Wars franchise, alongside the additional animated series, while superhero movies from the Marvel universe, like Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man won’t be missing either. However, there will be a gap between the released of Disney movies on Netflix and their availability of Blu-ray, according to the same source.
This announcement doesn’t come as surprise though, as the agreement between Netflix and Disney was signed back in 2012. Until today, just a small selection of classic Disney movies was made available.
Such a deal doesn’t come for cheap!
According to multiple rumors, Netflix will pay about $300 million per year for the right to showcase Disney productions, which were previously shown by Starz, a premium cable channel.
Even more, beside the new batch of Disney movies they’re going to stream beginning with this fall, Netflix will be the host of several important productions in the next months. Franchises like Jurassic Park or Fast and Furious, alongside titles like The Wedding Planner, The Big Short or St. Vincent will also be introduced in the movie library this summer.
