The streaming platform decided recently that it’s time for a branding refresh, by changing the well-known logo a bit. Of course, there aren’t may big differences, since at this level you can’t opt for a totally new appearance all of a sudden, but the new Netflix logo simply triggered users, who started complaining all over the Internet.
Red on black, nothing more
To be more specific, the logo had changed from red and white display to something a little more bold – a red ‘N’ on a black blackground, somehow reminding of a film reel or a ribbon.
From our point of view, the only unusual thing about the new Netflix logo is the 3D aspect, which is something a bit different, considering that most designs are nowadays flat.
“We are introducing a new element into our branding with an N icon. The current Netflix logo will still remain, and the icon will start to be incorporated into our mobile apps along with other product integrations in the near future,” a spokesperson said, according to The Independent.
If most fans weren’t delighted with the change, some of them calling the new Netflix logo “satanic”, “ugly” or “garbage”, it’s worth mentioning that it’s just a part of the company’s branding, as the current logo, will also remain.
It’s just part of a new look
“We just got a new ‘do – keeping it fresh. Our logo isn’t going anywhere, the icon is just a new piece of our overall look,” the streaming service told viewers on Twitter.
Over the years, Netflix went through three branding changes and fans started criticizing the decision each time. Most likely, they will forget about this in a few days, just like they did when Instagram changed their logo.
