It’s that time again when we bring you a monthly coverage of all the new releases coming to the Canadian network in our “What’s New on Netflix Canada” series. This list is dedicated exclusively to Canada subscribers, so if you’re a Netflix US or UK subscriber, you can check out our What’s New on Netflix US or UK installment for December 2015.

Being the festive season, it’s no surprise there’s a Christmas special, and there are a few new movies and live specials, along with some returning TV shows that look promising. This preliminary list consists of 45 titles — 30 movies and 15 new/returning TV shows. Let’s pick out a few highlights from the list:

TV Highlights:

New on Netflix Canada: December 2015 - The Good Wife

After a long wait, the popular TV series, The Good Wife is finally coming to Netflix Canada with Season 6 on December 15th. Created by Robert King and Michelle King, this political crime-drama-mystery series follows Alicia Florrick, who after seeing her husband put behind bars on a sex scandal, is forced to provide for her two children and in doing so returns to her old job as a litigator in a law firm.

Netflix is getting into the true-crime game with Making a Murderer, a new documentary series that lands on December 18th. The 10 episodes of this series will follow the story of Steven Avery, a man convicted of rape, and after serving 18 years in prison, exonerated by DNA evidence. Feel good? Here’s the ‘fun’ part: After his release, he was sentenced to life for murdering another woman in 2005! Don’t miss this one!

Netflix original series for December include Real Rob, a comedy series based on Rob Schneider’s stand-up performances, coming to Netflix Canada on December 1st. The debut season of Dawn of the Croods premiers on December 24th, while kids animated series, F is For Family and Care Bears and Cousins, will be available on December 18th.

Movie Highlights:New on Netflix Canada: December 2015 - A Very Murray Christmas

Why not celebrate this Christmas with the living legend that is Bill Murray? He’s been given his own sly festive musical comedy special, A Very Murray Christmas. Directed by Sofia Coppola, this rare Netflix original Christmas special stars Bill Murray himself, Geroge Clooney, Chris Rock, Miley Cyrus, and Amy Poehler, among others. It’s coming to Netflix Canada on December 5th and will be available in Ultra HD 4k.

Another Netflix Original on the movie side sees the first of four Adam Sandler movies coming to the streaming media. The Ridiculous 6 follows Sandler as Tommy Stockburn on an adventurous journey across the Old West with his five brothers after his long-lost outlaw father returns. It will be interesting to see how people will react to this movie given the fact that it’s already been slammed for being racist and sexist before it’s even released.

Other Netflix originals on ‘movie’ side include Brent Morin, Sherlock HolmesMonkey Kingdom, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the critically acclaimed sci-fi romantic drama Her.
